Instead of packing up and getting my portfolio ready for a move to L.A., I was back in my hometown doing this goofy shit. Oh well, at least I had fun... acting against myself... which isn't cringe AT ALL.
It's funny, because, through the course of writing, filming and editing these Case Cracker skits, I was contacted by a production scout through YouTube working for the show "Fact or Faked" on the Sci-fi channel. They contacted me regarding a clip I took from the second Case Cracker episode, "The Graveyard Guardians" and asked if the little girl ghost was real. Stupidly, or smartly, I came clean with them and said it was fake. I don't know if it was a missed opportunity to be on the show or not, but I remember thinking, if I'm going to look dumb trying to get internet famous, I'm going to do it the right way and look dumb on my own terms.
It’s pretty funny how meta this experience was. Here I am making fun of paranormal shows and all their clichés, and here is a paranormal show contacting me to hear my “story” and talk about my “ghost footage”. I guess I didn’t need to go to Hollywood after all – it came to me.
The Case Cracker is that attempt at looking dumb on my own terms. "The Lover Who Left" is the first of a four part series, "The Graveyard Guardians" was next, four years later, I stepped my game up and created two more episodes "The Spooky Balls" and "The Gillman". No one asked to see more of this shit; I gladly abide the silence and provided them anyway. You're welcome.
